Lasting impressions was recently asked to install a new driveway in Wythenshawe, Manchester. Our clients had decided to have a pattern imprinted concrete driveway as well as a pattern imprinted concrete path leading to the front of the house.

Pattern imprinted concrete is an innovative method of creating a pattern in specially mixed concrete using a template that is imprinted on the surface of the concrete. It can give the look of a range of natural materials including timber, stone, brick, cobbles and slate, giving you the chance to have something that is one of a kind. With a wide range of different colours available too, you can pair the pattern you choose with a colour that complements the external appearance of your house or suits your taste, so you can design a driveway that is completely original!

Our client wanted a pattern imprinted concrete driveway and path leading to the front of the house. They also wanted the new driveway in Wythenshawe, Manchester to follow the edge of the dividing fence and trim along the front lawn.

Think of a cobbled street and you might think of the cobbles in the icon title sequence on Coronation Street, or you might associate it with something out of a Jane Austen novel! Fast forward a little over 200 years and pattern imprinted concrete has created this classic look. For their new driveway in Wythenshawe, Manchester our clients decided to have London Cobble for the pattern and classic grey for the colour. If you look at the photographs attached you can see, London Cobble has gently rounded corners and a domed surface, it’s a classic choice and will suit any style and age of house. If you live in a traditional semi or a more contemporary style town house, the classic cobble with work well in either setting.

As with every pattern imprinted concrete driveway, an ACO drain needs to be fitted as surface water needs somewhere to flow into. You will see from the photographs included that we installed the ACO drain from the corner of the house because of the split fall. This drain channel is lightweight and easy to install and has anti-shunt grating so you can’t trip over it, and it stays firmly in place.

Once complete, their new driveway perfectly complemented the white rendering on the outside of their house, bringing everything cohesively together.
